PRF-microneedling

Whole Body Treatments

Micro-Needling

Microneedling is a sophisticated cosmetic and dermatological procedure that involves the creation of minuscule punctures in the skin using fine needles. The underlying principle of microneedling is based on the body's intrinsic wound-healing response.

At Bayside, we utilize the Derma Pen device to create controlled microscopic punctures that penetrate 0.5-2.0 mm into the epidermis and dermal layers of the skin. This advanced device allows the technician to precisely adjust both the quantity and depth of the punctures. This procedure triggers an inflammatory response, promoting the deposition of new collagen and elastin, which results in a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance of the skin. Our providers prefer the mechanical approach to microneedling to minimize adipose tissue loss.

Based on your skin assessment and rejuvenation goals, our specialists may recommend a customized combination of Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF), hyaluronic acid, botanical skin serums, and other injectable products to achieve optimal youthful appearance.

This treatment is also recognized as a preferred option for addressing acne and surgical scars on the skin.

The power of PRF

Platelets, sourced from peripheral blood, represent a reservoir of over 1,500 bioactive factors, encompassing growth factors, immune system mediators, and enzymes, all of which play a critical role in tissue repair and healing. Additionally, the growth factors released from platelets significantly enhance the recruitment of stem cells and other target cells facilitating the regenerative process.

Bayside Medical Practice has established a sophisticated protocol for the extraction of Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) from the patient's own blood, aimed at maximizing regenerative outcomes in skin restoration.

The PRF procedure

The practitioner will perform a blood collection akin to that conducted during an annual physical examination. Subsequently, the blood will be processed using a specialized FDA-approved centrifuge, which separates the various components of the blood into distinct layers for further extraction. After processing the fibrin layer, the clinician will extract billions of specialized cells into a syringe for therapeutic use. The entire blood processing procedure typically requires approximately 15 minutes.

After Care Instructions

Aftercare Guidelines for Micro-needling Treatment

Sun Exposure

Following your microneedling procedure, it is crucial to avoid direct sun exposure. Refrain from applying sunscreen immediately after the treatment, as certain lotions may contain toxins that could be detrimental to your skin. The skin channels remain open post-procedure, making it susceptible to harmful substances in topical applications.

Active Ingredient Products

Several days post procedure, it is advisable to avoid skincare products containing active ingredients. Common examples include Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Retinol, and similar agents. The skin will exhibit heightened sensitivity, and these products may exacerbate irritation.

Collagen-Stimulating Peptides

Microneedling is designed to enhance collagen production; therefore, the skin requires an increased supply of collagen for optimal recovery. Utilizing collagen-stimulating peptides can facilitate this process and further promote collagen synthesis.

Makeup Application

It is essential to allow your skin to 'breathe' and recover for a minimum of 24 hours post-treatment. The open skin channels can be compromised by makeup application, particularly if brushes are used, as they may irritate the skin or introduce contaminants, potentially leading to infections. It is recommended to wait 24 to 48 hours before applying facial makeup to ensure adequate recovery time.

Cooling Face Masks

Post-microneedling, you may experience skin inflammation or redness. Employing a cooling face mask can alleviate these symptoms, providing comfort and reducing inflammation.

Antioxidant Serums

Antioxidant serums possess properties that aid in skin healing. These serums can soothe the skin and diminish irritation, promoting a more comfortable recovery.

Sweating

It is important to avoid sweating, as perspiration can cause the pores to reopen, allowing bacteria to enter the skin punctures. This may result in adverse reactions or infections.

Hydration

Maintaining proper hydration before and after your procedure is vital for facilitating skin healing and rejuvenation.

Cost of Treatment

Depending on your individual assessment & evaluation of your skin rejuvenation goals, your provider may recommend one or more treatments. One treatment ranges $750-$950, and if multiple treatments are recommended, multiple treatment packages are offered at discounted rates: 3 treatments are generally $2150, and are spaced at 4-6 week intervals.
